Mabadiliko ya tabia nchi na athari zake

 

Tabia ya nchi ni mwenendo wa hali ya hewa yakiwemo majira, wastani na vizio vya juu na chini kabisa vya joto, utokeaji na mtawanyiko wa mawingu, mvua na theluji, majanga yanayosababishwa na hali ya hewa kama vile upepo mkali na kuanguka kwa theluji, na vimbunga vikali vya nchi kavu na baharini. Tabia ya nchi duniani inabadilika kwa sababu ya kile kinachojulikana kama ‘athari zilizoongezwa nguvu za miali ya jua’.

Uhai unawezekana Duniani kwa sababu ya nishati ya jua ambayo hufika katika umbo la mwanga. Dunia huakisi sehemu ya mwanga huu ambao hatimaye hupotelea angani. Hata hivyo, gesi zilizoko kwenye anga hupunguza kasi ya kupotea huku kwa mwanga. Kwa pamoja, gesi hizi hujulikana kama ‘gesi za kuzuia miali ya jua’, kwa Kiingereza, ‘greenhouse gases’, kwani kazi yake ni kuzuia joto lisipotee Duniani. Hii ni kama inavyoonekana katika nyumba maalumu zilizofunikwa kwa nailoni wanazotumia wakulima ili kuotesha mbogamboga.


Kiasi fulani cha gesi hizi ni muhimu ili kutuwezesha kuishi pasipo gesi hizi, wastani wa joto Duniani ungalikuwa nyuzi joto za 19°! Hata hivyo, shughuli za kiuchumi za binadamu (kama vile kilimo, uendeshaji viwanda, na ukataji miti misituni) zinasababisha gesi hizo za kuzuia miali ya jua kuwa nzito zaidi na kwa hiyo kuongeza athari zaidi za miali ya jua Duniani. Ongezeko la joto kwa kawaida hufuatiwa na mabadiliko katika utokeaji wa mawingu, kiasi cha mvua na theluji inayoanguka, mienendo ya pepo na urefu wa majira. Tayari tumeanza kushuhudia baadhi ya mabadiliko haya.

Kwa sababu mifumo ya hali ya hewa ina miingiliano mingi ya aina yake, mabadiliko ya hali ya hewa yana maana kwamba baadhi ya maeneo duniani hivi sasa yanapata kiwango cha chini cha joto kuliko kawaida, huku maeneo mengine yakipata kiwango cha juu mno na hata mara nyingine kushuhudia hali ya hewa mbaya kupita kiasi, kama vile kupigwa na vimbunga vikali vya nchi kavu na baharini na kughubikwa na dhoruba.
